Why Dance?
Dancing is one of the most physically and socially rewarding activities you can bring to your life.
Did you know that dancing can burn as many calories as walking, swimming or riding a bike?
During a half hour of sustained dancing you can burn between 200 and 400 calories. Dancing is also great for cardiovascular conditioning and building strong bones and muscles.
Dancing is a great way to make new friends.
Here at the Starlite Dance Club, you'll find many opportunities to socialize with others who share the same interest. Attend our social dance events and you'll find yourself making new friends and building the strong social ties that contribute to self-esteem and a positive outlook on life.
Dancing will make you smile!
Any dancer will tell you that dancing is their passion. Some even go so far as to say it is their reason to be. In any case, it is sure to become a favorite pasttime, and a wonderful way to break away from the stresses of life.
So how does one learn to dance?
Starlite offers many ways to learn to dance that fit your schedule, your budget, and your confidence level.
Private dance lessons
The one-on-one attention you get with your teacher is by far the best way to learn how to dance. Here at Starlite, we have many well-trained instructors who can help you master the footwork and the technique to learn just about any dance: Tango, Swing, Waltz, Salsa, and everything in between.

Group classes are great for both novices and experienced dancers. Basic technique and footwork are taught in our beginning classes, and as you become more proficient, you can pick up more advanced technique and patterns in our intermediate-advanced classes. Group classes are also a way to build on what you have learned in your private lessons.
Starlite has two types of group classes to choose from:
1. Drop-in Classes
Just want to drop in once in a while? Try our drop-in classes.
Our drop-in classes require no prior registration, and each class is self-contained, meaning it does not carry over to the next week. A good time to drop in would be Friday nights for our 95-minute "For Beginners Only" class. After the class we offer social dancing for you to practice your new steps. Partners are never required. Our instructors encourage the class to rotate partners frequently, but if you have a partner and you don't want to rotate, that is fine.
Check out our <Drop-in Class Calendar> for a list of the current classes.2. Series Classes
Build a good foundation with a series class.
Series classes provide the opportunity to keep building on skills week after week. They generally continue for 4 weeks and require advance registration. We suggest that you sign up well in advance to assure yourself a place in the class. Partners are not required, but we make every attempt to see that each class is balanced with equal number of leaders and followers.
See our <Series Class> and <Pricing and Prerequisites> pages.
We offer series and drop-in classes in all styles and levels, so you are bound to find something at Starlite Dance Club that suits your fancy. Just drop-in, register for a series class, or call to schedule a private dance lesson and let the fun begin!
